Setup Bluetooth connection on your Mac

Attention: We recommend following the Naming eBeam - PDF instructions and affixing a physical label with the same name you specify to the eBeam pod before proceeding.

  1. Download this software:
    1. If Capture package:
      eBeam Capture 1.3.5.1 for Mac OSX (10.4, 10.5, 10.6)

    2. If Projection package:
      eBeam Interact 1.3.5.1* for Mac OSX (10.4, 10.5, 10.6)
      *Only works with USB. For Bluetooth troubleshooting, please refer to Luidia's Known Issues page.

    3. If Complete package:
      eBeam Capture 1.3.5.1 for Mac OSX (10.4, 10.5, 10.6)
      eBeam Interact 1.3.5.1* for Mac OSX (10.4, 10.5, 10.6)
      *Only works with USB. For Bluetooth troubleshooting, please refer to Luidia's Known Issues page.


  2. Unzip the software, open the dmg file and start the install process.
  3. When complete go to Applications in the Finder window and look for the eBeam icons - drag them to your dock if you wish.
  4. Take the included USB cable and plug it into your eBeam and plug the other end into the included power adapter.
  5. Plug the power adapter into an outlet, the eBeam pod should glow blue.
  6. Position the eBeam at the top left or right corner of your whiteboard with one of the included mounting brackets.
  7. (be sure it is at a 90 degree angle in relation to the writing surface)
  8. If your eBeam package is Projection or Complete connect your computer to a projector and position the viewing area so the mounted eBeam is 1-3 inches off the top left or right corner.
  9. On your Mac locate the Bluetooth icon in the top right corner of the screen (by the clock).
    1. If you do not see the Bluetooth icon go to System Preferences -> Bluetooth -> Settings and check 'Show Bluetooth status in the menu bar'.
  10. Make sure Bluetooth is turned 'On' and 'Discoverable' is selected.
  11. Select 'Setup a Bluetooth device'.
  12. Click 'continue'.
  13. Select 'Any device' and 'continue'.
  14. MAC OS X should find the eBeam hardware and list it.
  15. Before continuing click 'passkey options'.
  16. Select 'Use a specific passkey' and 'OK'.
  17. Select the eBeam from the available device list, click 'continue'
  18. When prompted for the passkey enter: 1234 and click continue
    1. Note: Older eBeams may function better when setup to use 'no passkey'.
  19. Click continue again
  20. You should get a message saying 'Congratulations! Your computer is now set up...'.
  21. Click 'Quit'.
  22. To test the connectivity open the eBeam Interact software.
    1. You should see a splash screen and then the nav wheel if the connection is successful.
    2. The Bluetooth icon in the top right of the screen should have 3 hash lines through it.
    3. If the Bluetooth connection is not successful please review the troubleshooting section in the eBeam Support Issues PDF.
  23. If the Bluetooth connection was successful restart your mac and the eBeam and attempt to reconnect just to verify everything is working.
  24. Now restart eBeam Interact or start eBeam Capture and calibrate to get started.
